Lighting and lamps for the kitchen

Ceiling fixtures - the most popular form

Lighting in the kitchen can take many forms, but it must provide the right amount of light. The times when the only lighting was a ceiling lamp mounted in the center of the room are history, today modern kitchens require much more light, which cannot be provided by a single point. A well-lit kitchen will require the use of several different light sources. These can be, for example, recessed or surface-mounted ceiling luminaires - both solutions are equally popular and easy to install, but they require a good arrangement of lamps to provide light anywhere in the kitchen.

Track lighting for the kitchen

Track lighting is a completely different and relatively young solution in lighting the kitchen. This form is not only fashionable in recent times, but much more flexible, it allows you to design any system, and on it a completely free arrangement of luminaires.

It allows you to easily adjust the number of spotlights to each kitchen, you can also add additional lamps or change their arrangement at any time. In many cases, it is also possible to rebuild the rail system without forging, shifting the installation, electrical modifications, etc., adding only additional busbars and appropriate connectors. Taking into account lamps on rails, it is worth remembering that 3-phase track lighting is a much better solution. It requires the use of a suitable cable (4 or 5 wires), but allows you to divide the entire system into 2 or 3 circuits. In practice, this means that we do not have to light all the headlights at the same time, but only light those that are needed at a given moment. This allows for a better adjustment of the amount of light to the current needs in the kitchen and increases savings related to the use of lamps when some of them are not turned on. Another argument for a 3-phase solution is a much larger number of lamps that can be mounted on the rail on 1 circuit.
When designing the layout of the rails in the kitchen, remember that all the most important workplaces are well lit, and when standing at the countertop, do not cover the light. In the kitchen, more complex systems such as L, U, C, rectangles or squares will work better than a single line, unless it is only intended to illuminate an island or a table top. When illuminating countertops and workspaces, try to arrange the rails in such a way that the light from the lamps falls in front of us, this way we will not block the light by ourselves. Additional LED lighting in the kitchen However, because it is not always possible, incl. above the sink, in the corners, and especially where we have upper cabinets right up to the ceiling and you need to take into account the space to open them, which forces the rails or lamps to be moved some distance away, it is worth considering another light source, independent of rail lighting. In such situations, it is best to think about additional lighting, e.g. a furniture lamp under the cabinet, a tiny LED luminaire or use recessed aluminum profiles. An appropriately deep LED PDS-4K profile with a Liger shutter and a very dense 24V Delux LED strip with high power will ensure good lighting of the table top in the form of a uniform line of light without the effect of dots.

These 2 solutions are enough to illuminate such an important place in the house or apartment, which is the kitchen, with the right amount and power. Of course, you can also use other forms, such as wall lamps, that can have a decorative function. A frequently used form of lighting is also a hood with a lighting function, which will help to illuminate the stove or hob and facilitate cooking.
